Studio visits – Joanne Tatham & Tom O’Sullivan

We began studio visits with shortlisted artists earlier this week. First up, a trip to see Joanne Tatham and Tom O’Sullivan at their studio in Newcastle. We will have a Q&A blog post with the artists soon, but in the meantime thought we would share some pictures of their studio’s situation.

Joanne Tatham and Tom O’Sullivan have recently moved to Newcastle from Glasgow, so have set up a new studio space in the centre of Newcastle. They are based in the same building as Vane gallery and CIRCA Projects, whose Programme Director Sam Watson was a nominator this year.

The building is an ex-office block and the legacy of this is still visible although the artists housed there have put a lot of work into making it function as studio spaces. They  additionally share use of quite a large project space, used for screenings and events, pictured here.
